A portrait is not made in the camera, but on either side of it
My favourite area of photography would definitely be portraiture. And as a portrait photographer you have to care about capturing a special moment in time for a family, or person, forever. It’s a privilege really. To use the camera to render an image of someone that reveals their true identity is definitely a skill. And with that also comes a certain type of responsibility. Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun when we are creating those memories!
My favourite portrait clients are the one’s that I shoot every year. The relationship grows, the shots evolve and everyone becomes more relaxed over time. I’m happy to shoot on location, or in the studio – whatever suits my client. Trying to create a context in the portrait is a key part of what I want to achieve for my clients. Context can be created through location, and / or by using a lighting style. It’s amazing though, the different looks that can be achieved in the studio, just using lighting and a plain background.
Individual & Couples
We are really lucky living here on the Sunshine Coast. So many different & beautiful locations to take photos. The beach is always a beautiful backdrop, but is probably the most obvious choice. Sometimes shooting at someones home is the best option, this can often be the place people are most relaxed.

Home is people, not a place.
In the modern world most people rarely print the photos they take. Most photos stay in the electronic realms of Facebook and Instagram. Having photos of the ones you love on display in the place you live, is a powerful affirmation. Especially when those photos truly capture the essence of these special people. So if your walls don’t have a professional photo of the ones you hold dear, it should definitely be something to give some consideration. I’m always happy to organise professional printing for clients too.

Henry Glover is an excellent portrait photographer. He is friendly and professional. I loved how he captured us in our best light. Our photos carry a true sense of who we are. Thank you Henry for capturing that! We love our family portraits!
We were so happy with the images that Henry created for us. Pretty much anyone who comes to visit us comments on the beautiful prints we have in our hallway now. Highly recommend – thanks Henry 🙂
