My good friends Sarah and Andrew live on a bespoke property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The Barn @ Hill House is a 100 year old milk barn that they have renovated beautifully. I have done numerous shoots here over the last 5 years, from fashion to family portrait photography. There are so many pretty places to take a photograph in just one location!
On this occasion Sarah had called me because she wanted some updated family portraits to display in the house. So today it was their turn to have the camera turned on them. They know a lot of photographers because of The Barn as a venue. Sarah said she liked my style and believed I could capture what she wanted with the minimum of fuss.
Mostly, Portrait Photography is about being relaxed
It was a late afternoon shoot and we were blessed with some cloud cover. This gave us even more options of where we could shoot. We spent about an hour taking the photos, a very relaxed session, catching up as we went. Sarah’s son George had a friend over, and I was happy to take a few shots of him too.
At special events, like a significant birthday, when there is only one chance to get it right. My favourite portrait photography clients are the ones who I shoot every year. The relationship grows, the job gets easier, we are all more relaxed and the photos just get better and better.
